Unleashed Students Gathered

The Gathering

Every Wednesday, the Unleashed Student Ministry gathers to have real community around the study of the Word of God.  During this exciting time every Wednesday from 6 – 7:30 pm, middle and high school students gather in the SLAB (Student Life Activities Building) and experience interactive activities and games, engaging worship, relevant and exciting Bible study, and times of prayer.  Each week, there is a special “Weekly Gathering Giveaway” using a unique video highlighting at least one of our students.  You may view these videos by clicking here.

SLAMtheSLAB is an occasional event planned to encourage Unleashed students to invite their friends to a special “Gathering.”  Free pizza and drinks are provided, as well as “next level” fun and energy, including the USM Band and a gospel message.  SLAMtheSLAB is an amazing time.  For a brief snapshot video of our latest SLAMtheSLAB, click here.

Family Groups

Beginning Spring 2012 on Sunday mornings from 9 – 10:15 am, middle school and high school students will be getting together in age appropriate, gender-based groups to study God’s Word and how it applies to life, talk with each other, pray for one another, and encourage one another.  Currently, Unleashed students meet during this time as a large group to study God’s Word together and how it applies to life.  Topics of study follow the topics discussed the previous Wednesday night at The Gathering.

Unleashed Students Scattered

Project516

Unleashed student involvement in Project516 has included: volunteering in the local children’s home, feeding the local high school football team, volunteering at the elementary school carnival, collecting canned goods for the hungry, adopting families for Christmas, visiting the local nursing home, and passing out free bottled water at various spots in the community.  Projects such as these, and more, are regularly organized and can be found below on the Unleashed Student Calendar.  The calendar is constantly updated, so keep checking for the newest Project516 student opportunities.

Project516 opportunities typically will conclude with a time of fellowship and fun after our time of service.  Project516 is berthed out of Jesus’ command in Matthew 5:16.

Summer Missions

To date, the Unleashed Student Ministry has participated in missions experiences each summer with World Changers and  PowerPlant, missions organizations then of the North American Mission Board (now affiliated with Lifeway).  In 2011, rising high school students joined with Urban Impact and traveled to New York City to minister to immigrants from different parts of the world.  Future trips each summer will continue to seek to help middle and high school students carry out the Great Commission of Jesus.  In the summer of 2012, USM students will focus on local missions in our community.  More details to come…

Personal Witness

Students are challenged to seek to impact their peers by building a relationship with them and sharing the gospel with them in word and deed.

Fellowship & Summer

The Unleashed Student Ministry also plans special times to hang out together. These include parties, seasonal events, concerts and more.  During the summer, along with serving at Vacation Bible School, Unleashed students may participate in the USM Lock-In with the traditional SLABball Tournament, Sunday Night Live (recreation and Bible study at host homes), The Big Youth Thing at Carowinds, the USM Camping Trip, Project516 opportunities, Game Nights, and more.  The summer schedule changes from the regular schedule during the school year, so make sure you keep updated with the Unleashed Student Ministry Calendar below.

Keep checking the Unleashed Student Ministry Calendar, as it is updated regularly as events are planned!
